M1832 ARTILLERY SWORD AND SWORD BELT
M1832 ARTILLERY SHORT SWORD AND SWORD BELT
A Model 1832 white buff leather Artillery sword belt with interlocking 2-piece US buckle and integral frog for mounting of the 1832 pattern short sword. The accompanying sword is manufactured by Ames and dated 1844 with US inspection stamps. This pattern would have seen service during the Mexican War and early in the Civil War. This is a very fine example with leather being still supple and strong. The buckle is original to the belt. Sword is a beautiful example with crisp markings and bright blade.
A nice matched set with leather strong and not showing any staining to speak of. Black leather scabbard has a few minor scuffs and has an small area on edge about halfway that is missing some of the black. Sword is excellent with good markings and bright blade. A great set.
