LOW NUMBER 4-SCREW COLT ARMY REVOLVER

DESCRIPTION

A Model 1860 Colt Army Revolver, SN 5530, manufactured in the first months of 1861. An early 4-screw model for attachment of shoulder stock. Standard markings on barrel with New York address. "COLTS/PATENT" on left side of frame. 6 shot cylinder with rolled engraved scene, patent date and serial number. Brass trigger guard with iron backstrap.  Walnut grips with military cartouches, right side having a small "U.S." stamped over cartouche.

 

CONDITION

    Revolver shows expected wear for a gun issued early in the war. All serial numbers match including wedge. Screws are original. Walnut grips show service dings and wear with cartouches worn. Barrel is mostly smooth with some darkened areas. Cylinder scene is partially visible with patent information and sn clearly visible. Mechanism is fully functioning. Condition is as would be expected for a revolver that saw much service during the war. Complete and unaltered.
