COLT M1851 NAVY REVOLVER

DESCRIPTION

A Model 1851 Colt Navy Revolver , SN 103027, manufactured in 1861.  36 caliber, six shot cylinder with 7.5-inch octagon barrel.  One piece varnished walnut grips. Silvered brass trigger guard and backstrap. Barrel marked "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-". Frame marked on left side "COLTS / PATENT". Cylinder with roll engraved scene of battle between US and Mexican Navies.

This revolver was manufactured right at the start of the Civil War and is in very close proximity to serial numbers of Navy's known to have been purchased by southern states.

 

CONDITION

    Very good overall condition with all original parts. All serial numbers match including wedge. Grips retain 75% original varnish. Loading lever has visible case color remaining. Blue remains on protected parts of barrel, especially on underside.  Cylinder scene is visible with some worn areas. Action remains crisp. Brass backstrap and trigger guard retain traces of silver.  A good looking revolver in as found condition.
