DERINGER PERCUSSION PISTOL

DESCRIPTION

The classic 1850's Philadelphia made Deringer percussion pistol.  This is considered the medium pocket size with 4.5-inch 2 piece barrel.  Approximately 44 caliber with deeply rifled bore.  Mounted with German silver including engraved trigger guard, flashplate, nose cap, side plate, wedge escutcheons, butt cap and shield. Engraved lockplate stamped "DERINGER / PHILADELa", Breech of barrel marked the same. Varnished, checkered walnut stock. Original wooden ramrod.

One of the most noted names in American firearms and widely copied worldwide.

 

CONDITION

   A nice representative example in a good larger size. Markings are easily legible. Wood has a few dings and bumps, no cracks or loss.  Metal is mostly smooth with some pitting around bolster and scattered brown patches. Original ramrod. Wedge pin is a replacement.
