DESCRIPTION

An Indian princess pommel pattern officer's sword, circa 1830. Brass P-guard. Langets with American eagle motif. Pommel cap in the form of the bust of American Indian with feathered head dress. Grip of mother of pearl with brass wire wrap. Blade is early style with engraved and gilded floral motifs and panoply of arms surrounded by bluing which extends 11.5 inches from ricasso. Brass scabbard is richly engraved with floral patterns having both ring mounts and belt mounting stud.

CONDITION

   A n attractive sword in overall good condition. Traces of silver wash remain on all brass parts including scabbard. Grip is excellent. Blade is very good with scattered dark spots that would clean, no pitting. Most of the gilt around blade decoration is faded. Blue on blade is evident  with fading as you get closer to ricasso.  An early and desirable American officer's sword.
