LONDON COLT POCKET SN 35

PRICE    $3,295.00

DESCRIPTION

31 caliber, 5-shot percussion revolver. Exceedingly low serial number 35 on frame, loading lever, trigger guard, backstrap, cylinder, wedge and barrel lug. 5-inch barrel with two line address "ADDRESS SAML COLT/LONDON". Brass gripstraps with small rounded trigger guard. Rolled cylinder scene of stagecoach holdup. Varnished 1-piece walnut grips.  English proofs on left side of frame and at rear of cylinder between nipples.

One of the earliest known examples of the London series of M1849 pocket revolvers. Manufactured in 1853 with a total production run of approximately 11,000. This exact revolver is pictured and referenced in an article for the August 1966 GUN REPORT magazine, at that time owned by  the author of the article Dr. Chester P Bonoff.

A rarity in the Colt collecting field to find a revolver with such a low, two digit serial number.

CONDITION

All original condition with matched numbers throughout. Barrel and frame are mostly silver-gray. Brass has aged, mellow patina. Cylinder scene is mostly visible and patent and serial number are strong. Grips retains most of the thin varnish, there is a hairline crack on left grip just behind frame that does not appear to go all the way through wood. Bore is good and mechanism is fully functioning.
