COLT THIRD MODEL NAVY REVOLVER

DESCRIPTION

A Model 1851 Colt Navy Revolver , SN 51963, manufactured in 1856.  36 caliber, six shot cylinder with 7.5-inch octagon barrel.  One piece varnished walnut grips. Silvered, small size brass trigger guard as correct for third model. Barrel marked "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY-". Frame marked on left side "COLTS / PATENT". Cylinder with roll engraved scene of battle between US and Mexican Navies.

A very clean and attractive revolver with much original blue remaining and nearly all of the silver on backstrap and trigger guard.

 

CONDITION

   Fine overall condition with all original parts with the exception of the wedge screw which has been replaced. All serial numbers match including wedge. Grips retain 90% original varnish. Loading lever has visible case color remaining. Faded, thin blue remains over most areas of barrel.  Cylinder scene is nearly 100%.  Action remains crisp. Brass backstrap and trigger guard retain 90% of silver.  A top shelf Colt revolver
